Review

The Keychron K8 Pro is a wireless mechanical keyboard with 87 keys, offering Gateron G Pro or Keychron K Pro switches and various stabilizer options. It features a range of multimedia keys, RGB backlighting choices, and a 4000 mAh rechargeable battery. It is a TKL keyboard, supports both wired and wireless modes, with N-Key Rollover, and comes in the ANSI layout with different frame material options like ABS or ABS+Aluminum.

Its price ranges between $99 and $120 depending on the RGB and the frame you choose ( you can choose plastic or aluminum), we recommend the maxed out K8 Pro with the aluminum frame and backlit RGB.

Keychron included a VIA user manual for those who aren’t familiar with it. VIA is a software that allows you to reconfigure and remap your keys. It is super helpful in customizing your keyboard and is very easy to learn and work with.

The keyboard only weighs 3 pounds, and it has south-facing RGB. It has an aluminum frame, and two switches on the sides, One switch swaps between Windows and Mac layouts, and one switch is a Bluetooth off or cable switch.  Its battery capacity is 4000 mAh. Keychron says the keyboard will give you 100 hours of runtime if you have Bluetooth and RGB on.

There is a layer of sound-absorbing foam and a silicon pad under the PCB to stabilize the keyboard and make it quieter, and the switches come pre-lubed. The Keychron K8 Pro has double-shot PBT keycaps, although typing on them isn’t pleasant. The keycaps do not shine through, which makes it harder to type in dim light or the dark. It has poor Bluetooth performance and gave me high latency most of the time.
